District SOI (Statement of Interest) submitted to the MSBA

Each year, since 2007, Newburyport has been submitting a SOI to the MSBA seeking financial assistance in order to address specific needs of the Nock and Molin schools.. These needs spnned three priorities: Structural and safety issues ("stepping" in walls, fire safety), modernization of obsolete systems and facilities (HVAC, lavatories) and inability to deliver required programs adequately (technology access). This submittal was approved each year by both the School Committee and the City Council. 
 
The SOI was put on hold by the MSBA while more information was gathered. Finally, after numerous visits from MSBA engineers,in the Spring of 2011, the MSBA "invited" the Nock/Molin project into the pipeline .
